Biography

Currently I am working as a director of IQAC (Institutional Quality Assurance Cell) and a professor in the mechatronics engineering department at the World University of Bangladesh. I have more than 16 (sixteen) years of teaching and 16 (sixteen) years of research experience. My research interest lies in both fundamental and applied aspects of renewable energy technologies, especially in new technology to harvest electrical energy from solar, biomass, and hydro sources.

I started my career at the Renewable Energy Technology in Asia (RETS in Asia) Phase II Project in the year 1999 as a research engineer under the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) before joining as a program support specialist in the year 2005 at BRAC. I was appointed as an assistant manager (technical) in the year 2006 at Rural Power Company Ltd. (RPCL) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and later on in the year 2009 started working as a lecturer at the TAS Institute of Oil and Gas in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. I moved to the Universiti Malaysia Sabah as a senior lecturer in the year 2012 and continued until December 2018. I joined as an associate professor at the World University of Bangladesh and, later on, in March 2021, was promoted as a professor. I served as Head of the Mechatronics Engineering Department; an Additional Director, IQAC; Head of the Energy Research Unit; Chairman of the Energy Committee (Eco-Campus, UMS); Head of the Fluid and Thermal Expert Panel; and Coordinator of the Diploma in Oil and Gas Engineering and also served as a Deputy Head in the Material and Mineral Research Unit (MMRU).

I received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical), a Master of Science (Environmental Management), and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT) Khulna, jointly from the University of San Francisco, USA & Mahidol University, Thailand, and Universiti Malaysia Sabah in the years 1998, 2004, and 2012, respectively.

I also have published more than 65 research papers in the various journals and national & international conference proceedings; among them, about 34 articles are indexed by SCOPUS, and I also hold a patent on natural draft cooling towers. I am a Chartered Energy Engineer and CEng Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and Energy Institute (EI); a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB); a Member of the Bangladesh Society of Mechanical Engineers (BSME) and American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME); and a Professional Member of the Institute of Materials Malaysia (IMM) and Society of Industrial Engineering and Operation Management (IEOM).
